Small Soda-fired Bowl #204
Bowl, Porcelain, soda-fired (partial glaze)
A small bowl, wider than it is tall, with a cut-in waist in the lower third. The upper half is glazed in a grey-blue, the lower half shows strong orange flashing, and the inside is cream with an orange swirl. It can be used as a wide teacup or as a small bowl.
In the soda firing, soda is added to the kiln at high temperature. The vapour settles on the piece, which gives the orange flashing on the unglazed parts and the uneven gloss on the glaze.
ca. 200ml
