Matcha Blend for Usucha and High-End Mix Drinks, recommended for beginners and daily drinking. This is the baseline quality Matcha of our Marukyu Koyamaen line-up.
Soju is a light and creamy Usucha without any astringent or bitter notes, with a light and sweet finish. It is very easy to whisk up a very enjoyable Matcha with Soju as its rather forgiving in respect to temperature.
For a thick micro-foam we recommend a ratio of 1:20 (or 1:25) at 80°C.
All our Matcha is freshly milled by order and is stored at 2°C once it arrives in Germany.
FAQ
| Is UNEARTHED an authorized retailer? | UNEARTHED is an "Authorized Wholesale Retailer of Marukyu Koyamaen". If you ever want to verify the authenticity of Marukyu Koyamaen products, you can contact Marukyu Koyamaen directly at info@marukyu-koyamaen.co.jp. |
| How do I read the best-before date on the tin? | Marukyu Koyamaen prints it in the Japanese format YY.MM.DD (year.month.day). A tin marked 27.02.05 is best before 5 February 2027. |
| When was this Matcha milled? | The milling date is around 6 months before the best-before date — the current batch was milled in late July 2026. The sealed tins are nitrogen-flushed before shipping, so the Matcha stays extremely fresh until the tin is opened. |
| How is the Matcha milled? | All Marukyu Koyamaen Matcha is stone-milled in-house on granite mills (ishi-usu) — a single mill yields only around 40 g per hour. In our experience, their milling quality and consistency are among the best on the market — built on long experience, technology leadership, and in-house resources few other producers can match. |
