Hong Jianpeng

Hong's work exudes a distinct perspective on beauty, which sets it apart from many generic Dehua finds.

Short Bio

Since 2010 Hong has its own studio in Dehua, which is operated by his wife, two apprentices and him. He is basically investing all his earned money back into antiques.

Hong is a great lover of Tang dynasty poems and paints them on some his teaware:

“洛阳亲友如相问,一片冰心在玉壶”

“If my friends in Luoyang inquire, tell them my pure heart is like a piece of ice in a jade pot”

About Hong Jianpeng (Dehua, China)

Being a city of large ceramic factories with a high output of teaware, Dehua is not an easy destination for finding artisan items. With luck and the right contacts though I was able to find and visit Hong, whose heart and passion lies with antiques, especially antique ceramics. He is carrying over parts of this spirit and aesthetics to his studio’s creations and offers beautifully hand-painted half-handmade Gaiwans and other teaware. His work exudes a distinct perspective on beauty, which sets it apart from many generic Dehua finds.
