Soda-fired Cup #201
Cup, Porcelain, soda-fired (partial glaze)
A conical cup with a wide collar at the rim, which gives a good hold between the fingers. The collar is glazed in a glossy grey-blue, the body is matte grey, and the lower part and the foot show orange flashing from the soda firing.
In the soda firing, soda is added to the kiln at high temperature. The vapour settles on the piece, which gives the orange flashing on the unglazed parts and the uneven gloss on the glaze.
