Bowl, Porcelain, soda-fired (partial glaze)

A small bowl in two tiers, with a rounded lower part and a slightly narrower upper part. The outside is grey-blue with orange flashing, and the inside is cream with a wide orange swirl from the soda firing. It can be used as a wide teacup or as a small bowl.

In the soda firing, soda is added to the kiln at high temperature. The vapour settles on the piece, which gives the orange flashing on the unglazed parts and the uneven gloss on the glaze.
