Hoshino Hon Gyokuro Kirari31 (30g)
Single-cultivar Hon Gyokuro from Hoshino village, Yame, Fukuoka, Japan
This hand-picked Hon Gyokuro is shaded for over 20 days with traditional rice straw mats, which block more than 95% of the light. Kirari 31 was bred in Miyazaki and selected specifically for a high amino-acid content, which makes it a natural shading cultivar. You may already know it from our 10-day shaded Kabusecha: this is the same plant from the same farm, shaded twice as long under straw, so the two teas show you exactly what the longer shading does to one and the same leaf.
