Every spring, tea lovers across the globe eagerly await the first harvest season and the fresh flavors it promises. Especially Japanese Shincha, or “new tea”, is sought after as one of the highlights among green teas, and praised and enjoyed as a seasonal delicacy. During this session we will introduce the very first tea to get harvested on Japan’s main island, and share it’s intriguing history. We will also offer some other Japanese spring flavors, and examine the difference between Shincha and all-year-round-sencha, all illustrated with the unique taste and flavor of each tea.
The presentation will be held by Oscar Brekell, certified Japanese tea instructor and author of “A beginner’s Guide to Japanese Tea” and several other titles published in Japanese, English and French. With several years of experience teaching about tea in a total of fifteen countries, Oscar will guide you through the latest developments in the field of Japanese tea, and also unlock many secrets rarely told. A must for anyone interested in green tea.
