Multi-generation tea producer in Yame (Fukuoka, Kyushu), known for Dento Hon Gyokuro made with traditional straw shading and hand-picking, alongside matcha, sencha, and wakōcha.
"Drawing out the tea leaf’s character “honestly,” aiming for a cup that feels quiet, deep, and satisfying."
KUMAEN is a tea farm in Jōyō-machi, Yame, one of Japan’s most respected regions for shaded tea. Their work is anchored in the discipline of Dentō Hon Gyokuro—tea grown under honzu straw shading and harvested by hand, with a clear focus on texture, sweetness, and a quiet, lasting umami.
Alongside gyokuro, KUMAEN produces matcha and other shaded teas that carry the same signature: depth without heaviness, structure without bitterness, and a finish that stays clean.
Our gallery, studio, and tea space are a hub for experiencing and sharing the art of ceramics and tea.
Similar to the concept of “Utsuwa-galleries” in Japan, we are holding monthly exhibitions of unique ceramicists from Japan, China and Europe.
We also regularly host Workshops and Tea Experiences.
Sweet with a nice astringency and beautiful bitterness + deep huigan indeed
Maybe it takes a bit of time to get used to it because of the smoky notes. But after that it’s super interesting and fresh green tea with a long aftertaste.
Beautiful leafes. Nutty and fresh. Like it a lot.
Gut eignet als Chahai, sieht auch super aus!
