Matcha Pricing 2026 — B2B
Matcha Pricing 2026
For our B2B customers — where the market stands, what changes, and five questions that shape our September lineup.
Where the market stands
Japan's tencha harvest 2026 came in short, and demand from outside Japan keeps growing. Farms and mills are allocating rather than selling, and the prices we are quoted for the 2026 crop are the highest we have seen.
For the tea we buy:
- Kagoshima matcha: up to +100%. Our Kagoshima suppliers have roughly doubled their prices for the new crop.
- Nishio matcha: a smaller, but real increase.
The timeline
What we can offer you from September
Two thresholds have moved. Below €400/kg, first-harvest matcha from the best cultivars becomes hard to supply at all. Below €300/kg, something has to give: machine-milled instead of stone-milled, second harvest instead of first, or a blend instead of a single cultivar.
We are aiming to build the new lineup around two qualities:
1. Entry latte grade — target €300/kg
First harvest, 21 days shaded, stone-milled — but not from the top cultivars. Roughly comparable to our current Kagoshima Barista Blend. To be honest: matching that quality at €300 may turn out to be almost impossible. We are trying.2. Premium latte grade — target €400/kg
First harvest, 21 days shaded, stone-milled, from better cultivars. Comparable to our Kagoshima Premium.Alongside those, we will keep stock of our Okumidori from Nishio, and we are working on a further high-end latte blend from Aichi Prefecture.
Why we are telling you now
Because the answers below change what we buy. We would rather build the September lineup around what you actually need than guess.
Five questions
Two minutes. Your answers directly steer what we source for September.
1. If prices rise, what would you rather we do?
Single choice
2. Which of the planned qualities would you buy?
Multiple answers possible
3. What is your matcha mainly used for?
Multiple answers possible
4. What is your realistic ceiling per kg for your main working matcha?
Free entry — €/kg
Keep in mind that every supplier in the market is facing the same increase — your competitors will have to raise their prices too.
5. How far ahead can you commit?
Single choice
Volume committed ahead is the one thing that still moves price in our favour. If you can, tell us.
