陆羽 Luyu Teapot #009
I feel very conflicted about this teapot.
It is gorgeous. The silhouette and the milky slightly translucent porcelain are gorgeous.
But, it honestly handles very poorly and the fitment isn't great. The pour is incredibly gluggy, I've tried varying pour angle and speed but it consistently does not have a smooth pour. This is the worst pouring teapot I have. The weight is very odd. I really cannot hold the weight of it with a finger in the handle and a finger on top. Instead I have to add a third finger cradled on the lip of the bottom. The lid also has some vertical play where it can kind of tilt, something none of my other pots have.
Handmade Dehua (Blanc de Chine) teaware from the studio of ceramic artist Huang Yongxing, created with his apprentices. Clean, functional forms — Buchangqi Studio (不常器) “vessels without stories.”
(Fujian, China )
Dehua porcelain, also known as Blanc de Chine, is renowned for its luminous, creamy-white glaze and exceptional craftsmanship. Originating from Fujian, China, this porcelain has been prized for centuries, particularly in the realm of teaware. Its fine, dense clay allows for thin yet durable vessels, offering excellent heat retention while remaining smooth to the touch. The purity of Dehua porcelain enhances the clarity of teas, making it a favorite among tea connoisseurs who appreciate both aesthetic refinement and functional excellence.
Our gallery, studio, and tea space are a hub for experiencing and sharing the art of ceramics and tea.
