This shifuku uses “Samarkand”, a fabric by Marvic Textiles. A large pattern it becomes abstract, with soft textural effects when cut on the scale of a shifuku. The soft pinkish tones paired with the blue of the Shōraku chaire reference the blue and pink works displayed in the exhibition. The himo features a blue dot to reflect the piece inside as when closed the pink tones are predominant. The vibrant blue lining is a surprise when opened, making the chaire inside pop.

In this exhibition, Kyle explores the idea of the silk road and how textiles move around the world, often changing meaning as they do. Here the name of the fabric reminds us of this.

All shifuku feature bespoke handmade himo and tsugari (gathering cord that attaches the himo) in pure silk by Kyle and are signed with the Studio Shifuku mark inside. All linings are silk.
